My custom Roman minifigures

Lately I have been reading and getting interested in the ancient Rome topic. Fruit of it I decided to build some minifigs using the amazing Brickwarriors items about Romans and ancient era warriors. Here I will write a bit about them and you will see the four kinds of troops I own.

Lets start with the first one. Here's the Aquilifer. This troops were high rank signifers (who wore symbols and the banners of the Legions) carrying the eagle of the  legion. Each Legion had a golden eagle and was their pride and they would die to defend it if was necessary. Aquilifers were equipped with a little round shield called Parma and wolf lions or tiger skins over their helmets falling in their backs. My minifig doesn't have shiled so that's something I have to update in the future. One of the best minifigures I ever did. Was cool and not easy to paint. Only thing I don't really like is the eagle which was painted using a cheap gold paint and looks weird. Had so much fun painting it. Wolf skin is from Brickwarriors and the rest is Lego. The torso belongs to a Roman Centurio of the Lego Minifigure Series and fits the minifig perfectly.

The next minifig is a Roman Legionarius which was the basic unit of the Roman legions. Equipped with the shield called Scutum their tactic was to push the enemy with it and stab the torso or legs with  the Gladius (the typical Roman sword). The helmet my minifigs wear is from Brickwarriors too and is based in the Roman soldier from the 1 BC - 1 AC centuries which is my favourite part. The chest armor represents a Lorica Segmentata. Until the year 107 BC the soldiers wore many different kinds of equippment but that year Cayo Marius did a huge change to the army and since then the army tried to give the troops proper and the same equippment for all. My minifig is fully painted with Tamiya silver color (X-11) and even it wasn't easy to paint it looks amazing. The shields were bought green and I painted them. The color would look better if red wasn't that dark but overall looks nice I think. Roman Legionarius carried spears to throw (Pilum) as my soldier does and the Gladius too (As you will see in the Centurio). The chest armor is called Lobster Armor in Brickwarriors shop but I used it putting the back part looking to the front.

Now we will see the Centurio. Centurios commanded centurias made of 80 men each and there were different levels because there were 59 Centurios in each legion. The most veteran one used to be the Primus Pilus who was the leader of the first Cohort. Each legion had 10 Cohorts made of 6 Centurias so a legion had almost 5000 soldiers (Depending on the era they had a bit more). The highest cohort was the first one being the first centuria of it the best unit of the entire Legion so the sixth Centuria of the tenth Cohort was the lowest level unit of the group (usually made of young guys new in the army). They fought in the first row of the formation commanding the troops. My minifig is fully equipped with Roman stuff from Brickwarriors and was all painted. I wanted to give it an "elite look" with the bigger armor (Lorica Segmentata in their shop). The uniforms of the Centurios were usually customized so it wasn't strange to find them for example wearing purple plumes in their helmets. Mine uses a Gladius even the design of the armors barely let the minifigs move arms.

The last minifig is the Cornicen. They played the Cornu giving orders and info playing the instrument. They usually wore animals skins like Aquilifers but mine wears the usual legionarius equippment. The Cornu is from Brickwarriors too. Each cohort had one so 59 in total in a legion.

Here you can find a video with more photos showing the minifigs:

Many thanks for reading and support guys. More to come ! Roma invictus

Mil Mi-24

Known as Krokodil or Galina this aircraft produced by Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant since 1972 is the Soviet Apache. Produced since 1972 it's still in service in some armies nowadays in the upgraded versions it has. It can carry up to 8 passengers but the best of it is the fact the helicopter has many weapons such as  12,7mm Yak-B Gatlin guns, some light cannons and a few anti-tank missiles under the wings.

An Afghan soldier looks a Mi24 as it passes by in the mountains

My Lego version is inspired in the one of the photo. The biggest issue I has is the helix part. Real one has 5 and mine has 4 because I didn't know how to build a 5 propellers one. I built a door too (real one has one in both sides) but I hated how it looked so I prefered to delete doors so it looks better. Wheels part is weak due the weight but well if you don't touch it is fine. Anyway I'm happy how it turned out and I hope you guys like too. Here some photos about I have taken of it.

The crew. I will probably make a few changes on them so they look better

Some paratroopers

Cockpit part is weird. Not sure about if I like or not. Could be better for sure

Tupolev Tu-2 AliExpress

AliExpress is such a weird place. Sellers there sell all the stuff you can imagine. I was surprised when I found out they sell military related "Legos" too. They have all kinds of copies (even I don't know if the set of this post is a copy or where it comes from) and I will show you some of them here and on the rest of my profiles (Instagram and Flickr that you can find in this blog).

Today you can find here a review of the Tupolev Tu-2 I bought. The price and the renders were too good to not give it a try. If you are interested you can find it for 10€ at AliExpress (depending on the seller its a bit more expensive or cheaper). First of all we will see what says Wikipedia about that bomber: The Tupolev Tu-2 was a twin-engine Soviet high-speed daylight and frontline bomber aircraft of World War II. The Tu-2 was tailored to meet a requirement for a high-speed bomber or dive-bomber, with a large internal bombload, and speed similar to that of a single-seat fighter. Designed to challenge the German Junkers Ju 88, the Tu-2 proved comparable, and was produced in torpedointerceptor and reconnaissance versions. The Tu-2 was one of the outstanding combat aircraft of World War II and it played a key role in the Red Army's final offensives.
Built from 1941 to 1948, the Tu-2 was the USSR's second most important twin-engine bomber (the first being the Pe-2). The design brought Andrei Tupolev back into favour after a period of detention. Crews were universally happy with their Tupolevs. Pilots could maneuver the aircraft like a fighter, it could survive heavy damage, and it was fast.[3] The Tu-2 remained in service in the USSR until 1950.
Some surplus Tu-2s were provided to the Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force for use in the Chinese Civil War. Some Chinese Tu-2s were shot down by United Nations airmen during the Korean War. In the 1958–1962 'counter-riot actions' in the 1959 Tibetan uprising in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau covering QinghaiTibet, southern Gansu, and western Sichuan, Chinese PLAAF Tu-2s took on the roles of ground-attack, reconnaissance and liaison. The Chinese Tu-2s were retired at the end of the 1970s.

Box with the small bags of parts like Lego sets
The box where it comes isnt too big and all comes so tight. Luckily only one piece seemed damaged in a corner (photo below).

You can see some damage

The instructions are easy to follow overall and the book is kinda similar to Lego ones but some images of it can be a bit confusing and you dont know too well the color of the parts and where exactly is their position.

The quality of the parts is pretty decent but you can feel they arent as good as Lego ones and well at the end that's normal. They are compatible with Lego ones. Some look weird but overal they are exact copies so you would struggle to say if it's original or copy parts. The colors between Lego and copy brands match in this set at least.

Parts of this set have "M38" instead of "LEGO".

Stickers are awful to be honest...

... just like the minifig that comes in the set.

I don't know if some parts are original or they are Lego copies and I never saw original Lego ones. They look cool indeed like this red one. Perfect for a car gearbox shifter for example.

Some bombs (So simple as you can see)

The model finished is almost 29cm long, around 35cm wide and around 7cm tall. Here you can see a picture of the bomber finished.

My opinion about it is simple: Should you buy it ? Well if you like airplanes this one looks very cool and similar to the real one and for a very cheap price you have one you will build fast with no worries. For me the stuff you design yourself is better and I would never buy a tank but I'm not very interested in building planes so 10€ for one like this is a good deal ! (And I would rather buy this same plane 4 or 5 times instead of paying the same amount of money, 40-50€, for a book from Brickmania with their instructions or any other overrated kit lmao sorry).

AliExpress sells BrickArms copies and stuff like that too but well I doubt I buy them since BrickArms is the best ever happened to this community and I'm not a traitor to replace them but anyway if you like and support this post I will show you another AliExpress set I got in January where I spent 15€ instead of the 75-100€ Lego one costs. Hope you liked the post guys. Here a video with some shots of the plane incluided some cool outdoor ones.

Prussia 1807

French Grande Armée passes by Prussian lands making the Kingdom of Prussia surrender under Napoleon feet. Here is a scene where you can see some French soldiers getting stuff from a house while the owner looks at them but she is unable to do anything to save her belongings. I wanted to represent the problems for civilians when armies advance through an enemy country.
