Napoleonic Wars Minifigs

I  have been working in that minifigs for the past weeks and here is the result. In this post I will post all the photos I took of them with a small text about the minifig shown.

First one is the Russian Cossack. "Cossacks are the best light troops among all that exist. If I had them in my army, I would go through all the world with them" Napoleon said. They are different communities from the oriental part of Europe and the most famous ones are the ones from Russia from the Don, Kuban, Terek or Ural rivers. 10 million people nowadays consider themselves cossacks or related to them.
In the Napoleonic wars they served Rusia as light cavalry. They helped to make Napoleon's retreat from Russia a hell. Their typical weapon was an spear. Part of their training was to through a spear through a little ring while riding their horses. They used several uniforms and clothes. My minifig wears original Lego parts. Nothing painted here only the boots.

Now and finishing with Russian minifigs we have the Line Infantry soldier. Fought bravely but like happened in WW2 they weren't porperly lead so they used to have more casualties compared to their enemies the French army also called the Grande Armée. My minifig consists of Lego original parts and painted boots and backpack. Has a BrickArms musket. Has nothing printed in the hat like the previous minifig.

Front

Rear. Painted backpack

Next ones will be the soldiers of the Grande Armée of Napoleon Bonaparte. First the Line Infantry. The most used kind of troops in the Napoleonic Wars. Regiments consisted mainly on Line infantry but they used to have a company of skirmishers who would engage the enemy first confusing them and scouting for their unit. For the French army I used this time the most accurate torso in my opinion which is the one of the Revolutionary soldier of the Lego Minifig Series. They are kinda expensive and sadly not too common to find. Painted legs represent the white pants most of the armies used to wear. Almost all of the minifigs shown here use them.

Now the turn of the drummer. They played the drums to give orders from the commander to the troops. I used the same uniform I use for Line Infantry. The drumm is a 1x1 round brick with a 1x1 round tile at the top and covered by 3 small tyres.

I continue with the French artilleryman. Each cannon had a few soldiers using it and this one represents the soldier who pushed the cannon ball down the barrel to get it ready to shot again. They wore dark blue pants so my minifig does too. I used a Lego brown bar and a rubber around the tip.

French Sapper is the next minifig. They (were and still are) the combat engineers of the army and used to wear long beards and axes. This is my favourite minifig. It's tall and wears many stuff like the leader apron and the same hat used by the Old Guard that was used until 1870 by the Old Guard of Napoleon III.

Bags' coat could be dark blue too. Depends on year and which units wore it.

Now is the turn for the French Hussar. The Hussars were light cavalry and were used by lots of nations during the Napoleonic Wars. Created in Hungary in the 15th century the name Hussar is still used nowadays in armored units of some countries. My minifig uses Lego parts seen before with the typical sabre they used.

We reach the last Grande Armée minifig. The French commander. Pretty simple. All Lego parts.

Moment to start with the British minifigs. Turn for the British Line infantry. It's a simple minifig but looks pretty cool and accurate in my opinion.

Next one the British Hussar. Not really sure about how accurate it looks but I love it. Used a tyre to recreate their typical hat.

Now the British commander. Uses a bicorn and Lego Minifigures British Guard torso. Legs are painted too.

Now some minifigs from different nations. First comes the Prussian Line Infantry soldier. Simple  and common parts used but a nice result.

Now the turn for the Swedish Line Infantry. Swedish army barely fought during the Napoleonic Wars battles because they had their own problems in their territory. Swedish king was Bernadotte who was a general in the Grande Armée in the past and fought alongside Napoleon several years.

To finish with this post I will show now the Austrian troops. First the commander. I used a Lego Pirates torso for them. They are hard to find because they are from the 90s and were kinda rare in sets of that time.

Last one the Austrian Line Infantry soldier. One of the best minifigs I ever did in my opinion.

I hope you liked my minifigs. Here you can watch the YouTube video I uploaded showing them all with some epic music from that years. Any feedback is welcome.
